Change of plans for Europe

We have switched around some cities/dates that we have on our European agenda. With the current economic crisis we have been looking into the best possible funding chances and combined them with matching cities. Therefor we have pushed Stockholm and Trondheim forward to October 2010, being certain to get financial support from the Nordic fund. It is still possible that we might change the location for other cities within the same countries, but this is what we are now at least working with.

Reykjavik to Australia and New Zealand

For 2010 we have the extensive plans to do a one month festival tour around Australia and New Zealand. This highly ambitious plan with confirmed venues like Brisbane Powerhouse, Melbourne Arts Centre and Sydney Opera House (!!!) is now starting to come into play for our financial department.

The first contacts with possible sponsors and investors have been made. It is going to demand the most from our fund raising qualities, but the uniqueness of this project has enabled us to get the attention from high profile brands.

Reykjavik to Rotterdam, 3rd edition

We are at this point gathering up the finances to make the third edition of Reykjavik to Rotterdam possible. We hope to be able to combine this festival with our long time wish to do a Reykjavik to Berlin. As always does everything depend on funding. But we have good hopes.

Unlike the past editions will the music program take place WATT. With this location change will we also extended our focus more towards pop, rock and dance. We do however hope to still be able to program film and contemporary dance in good old Lantaren / Venster.

For Reykjavik to Berlin we hope to program one music stage for 4 days. The bands playing in Rotterdam will then also be invited to play here.

Reykjavik to Mexico City, strike 1

The Reykjavik to Foundation had last month their first cooperation with the Secretary of Culture for Mexico City. Runar Magnusson played a 1,5 hour set at the international festival La Noche de Primavera. A massive festival that covers 28 podia in downtown Mexico. Our first cooperation was a successful one, Runar found himself playing in a packed venue with people listening with full attention and wide open mouths.

This careful first start will get its followup in October 2010, when we will revisit Mexico City to present an Icelandic focus at the literature festival La Feria del Libro en el Zócalo.
