The Reykjavik to Foundation works with a long term planning. As you can see on our upcoming festival list here to the right, are often locations picked many years in advance. But the real work on each festival starts two years prior to the event. Then an analyses of plausibility is made, where we look into costs, public interest, funding possibilities and locations.
With one year to go the venues are booked and we contact funding partners and prospect sponsors.
In the year of the event, with the first finances secured, media partners are contacted and the artists are booked. Also local volunteers are recruited to assist the organization during the days of the festival, this is usually a combination of Iceland lovers and Icelandic students.
However this does not mean that the Reykjavik to Foundation does not have the capacity to work on a shorter term. When a request comes directly from a funding partner or sponsor the foundation can set up a festival in a very short timespan.
